Faust's Obsession

Here is my second illustration for Cynthia Sheppard's mentorship audit! ❤
This illustration is all about Ghoete's Faust. I love the book so this was an easy choice. I wanted to show inner world of Gretchen and Mephisto's personality in contrast. In my early sketches I was playing around with exactly how much role Gretchen would be playing in the piece. She has a lot of agency in the finale of the story and her image is one of the central concepts of the story. In the end, I decided to place Mephisto in between two lovers.
